Athboy Age friendly Walkability Audit European Finalist.

A memory from Dec 2019 when I was fortunate to represent Athboy in Berlin at the Innovation in Politics Awards. You’ll remember in the previous July we conducted a walkability audit of the town. Looking at the town through the eyes of those who may encounter the street a little differently. The Audit took particular focus on Age Friendly and Dementia awareness. It was the first of its type in Ireland and was a European Finalist and set Athboy as a centre of best practice for Age Friendly work. One of the outcomes of our work was that the need for age friendly homes were identified. As you know these homes are now being build on the Kildalkey road Athboy as we speak and are scheduled to be allocated next July. This is a perfect example of how working with and for our community yields proper results. #AgeFriendly #athboy #localpolitics
